Update on MSBA Accelerated Repair Program window/roofro'ect at S continued
Joe asked whether there would be a penalty imposed on contractor if timeframe not me.
Catherine responded "yes"...if they don't complete the project in the timeframe then a fine
would be applied.
Patty DeBocr commented that if roof and EFIS work had to be done during the school session, it
might not be too disruptive compared to having to replace windows during school hours. Joe
Brait said ideally the contractor would have one crew going ahead with demolition and prep; and
then a second crew following immediately with new construction.
Catherine said the next Subcommittee meeting is scheduled for March 6 to review Schematic,
which is about 30%plans. Then they go to Selectmen, School, and FinCom. Town won't
authorize funding until May.
Steve Cook asked whether there is anything else in the interior of the schools that needs to be
done. Patty DeBoer said this should be it. Catherine said the generator will be done hopefully
under capital improvement; HVAC was already replaced. Patty added that they upgraded the
fire alarm system;put in new bleachers; and will get a new playground this summer.
Scott McGee said we only have 2 months for construction in the summer to get as much done as
we can.. He asked: Will we need mobile classrooms? Catherine said the Subcommittee talked
about it but the plan is not to move students out of the school but we may have to move some
classrooms within the school, especially if all 3 contractors are working at the same time. Scott
said he is wondering about having mobile classrooms as a contingency plan. He said perhaps the
Project Manager would have experience with that type of situation at schools. Patty said she is
hoping they start in June after testing is completed.
Conclusion:
Motion: Scott McGee motioned to approve the selection of the rubber membrane roof and EFIS
soffit as presented and also the windows and doors as presented. Joe Brait seconded the motion.
Vote: 3 Yes.
Steve Cook,yes. Joe Brait,yes. Scott McGee,yes.
Next Meet',,,,,,,,
inTo be determined.
Adjournment
Joe Brait motioned the meeting be adjourned; Scott McGee seconded the motion; and the motion
was unanimously passed. The meeting adjourned at 11:25 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
J berti
.Recording Secretary
2
