Mashpee Historic District Commission <br /> Minutes of Meetinb <br /> May 26, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. <br /> Mashpee Town Hall <br /> Approved 12-21-16 <br /> Historic District Commission Members Present: Earl Mills, Sr., Jessie Baird, Brian Hyde, <br /> Brad Pittsley <br /> Also: Tom Fudala-Town Planner <br /> Absent: Dennis Balzarini, Mike Robbins <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> The Town of Mashpee Historic District Commission meeting was called to order with a quorum <br /> by Vice Chairman Mills at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday,May 26, 2016. <br /> CERTIFICATE OF APROPRIATENESS <br /> Applicant: Naukabout Beer Company LLC <br /> Location: 13 Lake Avenue <br /> Request: Approval of Certificate of Appropriateness for building exterior and site <br /> plan <br /> Mr. Mills read for the record the public hearing notice regarding a Certificate of Appropriateness <br /> for changes to an existing building. Peter Murner, co-owner of Naukabout Beer Company, was <br /> present to discuss the request. Mr. Murner described the request as a simple plan changing the <br /> building from a restaurant to a brewing company, with upgrades to the existing building. <br /> Among the changes, Mr. Murner stated that they planned to reseal and restripe the parking lot, <br /> re-side and change the roof and windows, remove a small section in the back of the building to <br /> replace with a patio space, extend the existing patio space, including the addition of rain gardens, <br /> and create a location for a third party vendor, such as a food truck, to be located. Additionally, <br /> improvements will be made to the front of the building to include bringing the handicap ramp up <br /> to code and installing an overhead door at an existing window to allow for the loading of <br /> product. A mirroring door will be added to the back of the building with barn doors to seal the <br /> overhead door. Brewing would occur in the morning and the tasting room would be open in the <br /> afternoon. The front door will be used for loading product from trucks. <br /> The existing upper deck in the rear will be reduced and the footprint will be converted to a patio. <br /> An existing apartment on the 2"a floor will be converted to office space. French doors will be <br /> installed to allow rear access to the patio area, which will wrap around the building. Retaining <br /> walls will be replaced and pushed back, and pavers used to build the patio area. <br /> Cape Cod colors will be used, such as driftwood grey board and batten siding and shingles with <br /> green trim. Mr, Murner described where the materials would be used. Ms. Baird inquired <br /> whether the applicant had been reviewed by other Committees. Mr. Murner responded that they <br /> would be heard by the Conservation Commission regarding the building's proximity to the river. <br /> Mr. Fudala added that the Planning Board would review for a Special Permit. Mr. Mumer noted <br /> that both the Site and Plan Review Committees approved or recommended the project to the <br /> 1 <br />
