The Director said another meeting attended was the Health&Human Services Advisory
Council where Housing was the topic and various speakers were brought in locally and
from the State to speak about the status of Housing on the Cape. Provincetown spoke
about a pian they had done to meet their housing crisis. There was a lot of discussion but
there didn't seem to be many suggestions made to solve the crisis.
The Director spoke about the wonderful turnout at the food drive. We had two huge carts
filled and had great publicity on Facebook and an ad on the radio. She noted people were
very generous and thanked Glen for delivering the food.
The Director noted she has been taking training for the new town website and is working
on the Human Services webpage to make it more user friendly and is updating the
resource information.
The Director stated all of the Human Services contracts were approved at town meeting
for a 10 per cent increase. The town manager signed the contracts and they were sent out
with the request the agencies send in their data with their invoice. There was a brief
discussion on how the monies were allotted. The Director spoke about the cases which
are now very complex and how people are lacking in very basic needs. The lack of
shelter is the primary crisis. She advocates for the clients and has been having meetings
with other agencies because we need to try to encourage people to get connected. She
wanted to mention there are a lot of the people coming in that are homeless due to
domestic violence, veterans,or young moms with children.
NEXT MEETING SCHEDULE—Thursday,Junc 23,2016 @ 2:00 p.m.
Motion: Mary Bradbury moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Lynne
Waterman.
