Minutes of Meeting of
Mashpee Design Review Committee
Tuesday, November 21, 2017
Mashpee Town Hall Waquoit Meeting Room
Committee Members Present: Joseph Cummings, Jonathan Furbush, Michael
Mendoza, Joshua Spencer, and Miles Peters.
Michael Mendoza called the meeting to order at 8:34 a.m.
Project Address: One Wampanoag Drive
Business name: Mashpee Village
Owner/Agent: Michael Day
Representative: Michael Day
Request: Replace existing entrance signs with new in_the same location
Michael Day appeared and said they are replacing the 2 front entrance signs at
Mashpee Village.
• New signs are a little bit smaller than the original signs; they are not taller;
and are not closer to the street. Set back is 10 feet.
• Colors are navy blue and gold with carved-in letters. The gold leaf around
the sign will be carved in. Right now the sign color is cranberry, but new
sign would be company logo colors.
• Not proposing a lit sign, but if Michael Day is asked to pursue looking into
solar then he will return to Design Review for approval.
Miles Peters asked about the bar at the bottom of the sign. Michael Day said
that is mostly for support.
Miles Peters said while the blue is an interesting color choice, he would propose
retaining the cranberry color because it goes better with the buildings and
landscape and therefore cranberry is better aesthetically.
Michael Day said the owners, The Community Builders, are a huge national
company and blue and gold are their logo colors. He said Community Builders
has other rental building facilities in Dennis and Sandwich. Jonathan Furbush
said if that's their logo colors, show some sample of where used. Both Jonathan
and Mike Mendoza commented that if it is demonstrated that these are the
owner's colors then Committee would accept that but would prefer the blue be
toned down—on material submitted it appears too dark. . Mike Mendoza said the
Committee is trying to offer options.
