One Wampanoag Drive (continued)
Michael Day questioned by what legal right this Committee has authority to
change the color scheme. Both Jonathan Furbush and Mike Mendoza explained
that Design Review is appointed by the Town under the Town's Bylaws and it is
their responsibility to look at aesthetics and color is part of that.
Miles Peters said to Michael Day that at the beginning he agreed that the
cranberry color was better. Michael Day responded he has no choice of colors
that it's to be what the client wants.
Mike Mendoza suggested the Committee could continue this hearing until the
next meeting and that would give Mr. Day an opportunity to talk with his clients to
see whether there is a lighter shade of blue that would be acceptable. Michael
Day said he thinks the lighter blue with the gold would not look as nice.
Joseph Cummings pointed out that the street address is not on the sign and that
should be added—it could be on the supporting bar underneath.
All agreed Mr. Day should provide some paint chips to show a sample of the blue
to be used since the color shown was just a printed photo not a sample. Mike
Mendoza asked Michael Day to drop off the color sample at the Building
Department prior to the next meeting. Mr. Day said he would do so.
Conclusion
MOTION: Jonathan Furbush motioned to continue to December 5, 2017 at 8;30
a.m. the application for the Mashpee Village replacing existing entrance signs
with new signs at the same entrance locations and to put street number on new
sign and to bring color sample blue paint chips to the Building Department prior
to the December 5 meeting. Joshua Spencer seconded the motion.
Vote: 5-Yes.
Roll Call Vote:
Joseph Cummings, yes Miles Peters, yes
Joshua Spencer, yes Michael Mendoza, yes
Jonathan Furbush, yes
Project Address: 64 Great Neck Road
Business name: Laurentide at Mashpee Commons
Owner/Agent: GNRS-MA LLC
Representative: Brian Yergatian or Wendy Nowokunski
Request: Entrance sign location
Brian Yergatian appeared and said Laurentide is the assisted living facility
currently under construction.
