IN
Kathy Mahoney reviewed some of the recommendations in the report submitted by Rachel Onuf, MBLC
and State Historic Records Archives. Kathy will apply for a Level 3 grant to have Rachel come back to
Mashpee to help the Town, and the Archives will be included, in digitizing records. Rachel will also
assist us in how to properly handle and store what records we do have. Kathy also mentioned Elaine
MacElroy, a retired Wellfleet librarian who is presently attending a Simmons College Master of Library
of Science and information degree program, who would be interested in volunteering with a local archive.
Kathy also mentioned that we need to address what database software we may want to use. She is able to
purchase software much more economically through the library, and we may be able to have her purchase
some for our needs as well.
Many items described in RachePs 14 page summary report dated Aug 27, 2015 were discussed and
accepted with great enthusiasm however, much homework must be done to implement her suggestions.
Deb Dami suggested that we may want to bring back into the Archives the cabinet of Weights and
Measures, together with her lion's head seal of Mashpee. We feel it is better to have it on display in the
upper hallway of the Town Hall. It is passed by everyone who goes to meetings and makes requests from
the Town Manager and the Board of Selectmen. She also offered to assist us with our present Access
database if we choose to keep it. Kathy suggested that we look at Tech Soup, which is very inexpensive,
and Rachel recommended that we try Past Perfect online.
Kathy spoke with Rosemary about having.a book signing at the Town Library. Rosemary would be
interested in a book signing, but not making a presentation. Plans will be worked out so that her book
could get more exposure. She plans to sell copies at the up -coming Town Meeting in October and
perhaps at one of the School's Open Houses coming right up too. Checks for the book should be made
payable to the Town of Mashpee.
Because of the delayed start of the meeting 2 commissioners had to leave for additional appointments; the
quorum was lost at 10:20 am and the meeting adjourned.
6:
(JI(f,i ✓.i..A,
