Land Steward Program: Update <br />Mr. McManus announced that he had just completed the interview process for the part time Assistant <br />Conservation Agent. There were 10 finalists from. 15 applications, then narrowed down to 4 <br />candidates for second interviews. The primary responsibilities will be to address the land management <br />duties, promote conservation lands, take care of management issues, develop management plans, <br />manage recruitment of volunteers and assist Mr. McManus as needed. It was expected that the Land <br />Steward program would be revamped. Mr. McManus reported that there had been a dramatic <br />reduction in illegal dumping, particularly as residents reported illegal dumping. Chairman Talbot <br />expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Conservation Department, <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br />DISCUSSION <br />Land Disposition Project <br />The Chair reported that, at their last meetin&MEC had discussed the disposition of tax taking land. <br />Selectman Gottlieb stated that it was his desire to have the matter heard at the October Town Meeting. <br />Mr. McManus inquired about the "Reserve" category. Selectman Gottlieb responded that some land <br />had been reserved for nitrogen offset credit for affordable housing, along with problematic parcels <br />such as unclear titles or multiple use parcels. Selectman Gottlieb noted that not as many parcels had <br />been identified for resale. Selectman Gottlieb added that small parcels adjacent to the water had also <br />been set aside, with the intent that it would provide greater access to shellfish, though expected some <br />contention at Town Meeting. Mr. York added that there was water access issues being discussed with <br />the Waterways Commission. <br />MEETING ADJOURNMENT <br />The next meeting will be Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m. <br />Mr. York made a motion to adjourn.
