HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE —PUBLIC SESSION <br />December 15, 2016 -- 2:00 P.M. <br />MASHPEE TOWN HALL — OCKWAY MEETING ROOM <br />Committee Members Present: <br />John Calahane <br />Veronica Warden <br />Frank Fantasia <br />Lynne Waterman <br />Mary Bradbury <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Also Present: <br />Gail Wilson, Human Services Director <br />Chairman John Calahane called the meeting to order at 2:05 p.m. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS —None <br />Review of Minutes from October 20, 2016 <br />Motion: Frank Fantasia moved to approve the October 20, minutes, seconded by <br />Lynne Waterman. Vote unanimous 4-0 <br />The Director reported on the. Human Services initiatives. She referred to the draft letter <br />prepared to send to Tom Cahir regarding the proposal entitled "Homebound Harvest". <br />Following a review of the letter and a brief discussion, <br />Motion: Mary Bradbury moved to send the letter to Mr. Cahir, seconded by Lynne <br />Waterman. Vote unanimous 4-0 <br />The Director updated the members on the Mashpee Substance Abuse Task Force. She <br />stated the Task Force has developed their mission statement and goals. The Wellness <br />Campaign "It's Never Too Early" will be on their new website which is in the beginning <br />stages, www.itsitevertoearly.com. She spoke about the public service announcement on <br />Mashpee TV and stated the purpose was to introduce the Task Force and talk about the <br />series coming up. The Director thanked all of the participants and stated this is the first <br />step to get the conversation started. The second in the series will be regarding parents <br />supporting parents. They also want to get this on the radio and in the paper and link it to <br />our web page. The Task Force has a subcommittee media group and will be working on <br />getting out information to the public and each month there will be a different topic. <br />There was a discussion on ways to notify parents and suggestions were through bulletins, <br />Facebook, twitter, town's website, and the senior center newsletter. <br />
