1111 May 2000
'age 1 .
Mr. Brabants stated when he spoke to him back in February, he faxed him
something and came down and set up a meeting on Friday, February 8thand
brought this plan down. Mr. Sherman told him there was a potential of a
vernal pool there and he said he had not passed papers. It was suggested he
hire a scientist and one of the names he recognized was sabatia. He called
there and before he passed papers and spent thousands ofdollars to coo all the
engineering to find out was the wetlands in the right area and was this a
vernalool` He did not pass papers on this land until April 16th after he had
all the conclusions. He had spoken to the scientist, Bob Gray, who came lack
and said no, this is not a vernal pool, he had not found anything there. He
passed papers on the land. Five hors before his hearing here, which was
supposed to be April 27th, his engineer got a call from the Asst. Conservation
Agent, who he had never talked to before, and who said okay, the vernal pool
is not an issue anymore, wildlife habitat is. He was shocked, wildlife habitat.
He has lived in New Seabury for 18 years and lived on the waterway. when
he brought up the other night about Conservation, Mr. Sherman would tell
you, he personally paid to dredge because the Town of Ma h ee wouldn't, it
cost therm $20,000 to open it up. Mashpee didn't have the money. He has
done a lot of things for Conservation. He was absolutely shocked when at the
eleventh dour someone said this is a wildlife habitat. He does not disagree at
all there ars probablsome Ter, there are definitely raccoons, there are
skunks. He has seen red foxes running all over New seabury. Looking at
this he was wondering, is them an endangered or protected species in here?
He is concerned. He has young children. At the meeting two weeks ago
Diane brought up that there is deer. He stated he has two articles from the
Cape Cod Tunes by John MacDonald who is the head of Mass Fisheries
concerning deer. Barnstable County right now had three tinges the amount of
deer more than the state wants. They want 8 to to per square mile.
Barnstable has 20 to 25. The state is trying to double the hunting season
because the State says it is going to be a lot cheaper to eradicate them that .
way than have the taxpayers do it and have a Proposition 2-12 override.
There are 'a lot of animals out there. What endangered species is in that
area'HHe is giving up 70% of the lard and doing nothing. He asked what the
Commission wants hire to do
Ms. Boretos asked him to loop at a plan she took the effort to do. This is the
same configuration, the same square footage of the house that can be placed
on this'lot. Mr. Brabants stated the difference, if you look at the two of them,
personally he understands her job in Conservation, but the changes she is
going to wake and if you loop at these two, what is she picking up if you tura
i
