July 2000
Page ' .
the island onto the -island and is actually washing away and eroding away.
The trees that are planted on it are not planted to standards.
The Chair asked if the berm}is' already in place` Mr. Sherman stated yes,
after-the-fact filing fees were paid. The berm was put in without a filing.
Mr. Solomon stated they have no idea of the condition of the soil brought in.
It is washing all over the abutter's property. 'Frees are planted randomly and
every few days they come in and stick a few more trees in the ground .
1r. Sherman stated IVH Sheehan has been told on more than one occasion, to
stop all work.
Mr. Solomon stated the problem is that he is basically in.violation of every
possible rule.
Mr. Sherman stated this.filing was occasioned by a violation., so at least he
has filed. This is only one
example of a series of total disregard for any rulings or guidelines, including
the fact that the property is actually built ' above the standard that was
ordered in his original building permit. Their concern is that the committee
is going to rule on anything new that might be done.
The Chair asked if that was asummary of the feeling of the people present?
Fred Lconi, an abutter, stated they were also representing the Association
of the Island, in terns of people who for various reasons diose not to present
themselves here tonight. Most of this work that has been referred to and the
berm being talked about, berm being an innocuous thing, but this is really
