x f r MASH EE CONSERVATION COMMISSION Minutes of February 6, 2003 Public Hearing Mashpee Town Hall Meeting born 3 Commissioners present; Jack Fitzsimmons, Elliot Rosenberg,, Cass costa! Stephanie Jones, John hiller, Leonard Pinaud, Ralph Shag, Michael Talbot. Staff present: Robert Sherman, Agent; Frances Wise, Board Secretary Jack Fitzsimmons, Chairman, called the meeting to order at 6:55 p.m. and welcomed John Miller as a neer Associate Member. Public Comment: None Non-Hearing enla Old Business 1. Approval of January 2, 2003 minutes. Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve the January 2, 2003 minutes. 2. Bob distributed a draft of a Town report which he asked the members to read and � advise hire by the follovAng Monday or Tuesday if they have any suggested changes. Bob said there's a mention of carol Moore in the report and he will send the Board of Selectmen another memo requesting approval of her as an Associate member. 3. Bob reported: a. He's been asked again to reduce the Commission's budget, but he said we are Already as bare-boned as possible. b. At a meeting.with the Selectmen, the Finance Committee recommended slashing our entire department. However, chapter 131.40 mandates the existence of this commission. c. He has a meeting on 2/19103 With the Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee at Mashp ee Water Districtajust to let them know we have a real job to do. . Bob reported that Mr. Sylvester has a 1 -A float, and he's had trouble keeping it scre<�tls year as has been the case vith many others). He wants to put in plies wh-ich would make it a real dock} so he will be filing a Notice of Intent. He is asking if ' e has to get an engineer's plan. Bob said the Board of Appeals will require him to have one and he doesn't think we should set a precedent of having 1 -A floats come in through the back door without an engineer's plan for any salt grater docks because they are subject to storm surges.
