�mm � of ashgee <br /> BOARD OF HEALTH <br /> 477-1777 <br /> !qg Co- <br /> LEGAL NOTICE <br /> The Mashpee Board of Health, under the authority granted by Section 31 , Chapter 111 , <br /> of the Massachusetts General Laws, hereby adopts the following regulations: <br /> DEFINITIONS: <br /> FARM ANIMAL: any sheep, goat, swine, bovine or eqine of any quantity, sex or age. <br /> POULTRY: any domestic fowl such as chickens; turkeys ducks and geese.- <br /> BARN: any building or structure where a farm animal is sheltered or the portion of a <br /> structure used for this purpose. <br /> STABLE: any structure or portion thereof used to house equines. <br /> ENCLOSURE: any fenced in area, corral , paddock, pen or the like used to contain farm <br /> animals or poultry. <br /> COOP: any structure or portion thereof used to house poultry. <br />`` WETLAND: any watercourse as defined in the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act. <br /> I{ REGULATIONS: <br /> LOCATION: all barns, stables,. coops and enclosures used for the keeping of farm <br /> animals and poultry shall be located according tothefollowing table: <br /> MINIMUM DISTANCES FROM: TO ANIMAL 9fLTER TO ANDOL ENOLOSK: <br /> Abuttor's property line 75 feet 25 feet <br /> Private well (in use) 150 feet: 100 feet <br /> Public water supply well 500 feet 400 feet <br /> Abuttor's dwelling 100 feet 50 feet <br /> Dwelling on property 50 feet 25 feet <br /> Well on property 10C feet 100 feet <br /> Wetland 150 feet 100 feet <br /> CONSTRUCTION: <br /> 1 .All structures used to house farm animals or poultry shall be of durable <br /> construction to protect against deterioration or damage dus to rodents, <br /> termites and dampness; and shall be inspected by the Building Inspector <br /> annually. <br /> 2.The flooring shall be approved by the Board of health and the Building <br /> Inspector and shall be of such construction as to support the intended <br /> loading and shall be maintained in such a manner as to provide a clean <br /> and dry area. <br /> 3.All structures housing farm animals must be provided with adequate light <br /> and ventilation. for watering <br /> 4.A11 barns and stables shall have an adequate water supply 9 <br /> the animals, for fire control and for cleaning the premises. The water <br /> shall be tested for potability annually. <br /> 5.Each equine shall have its own stall in a stable. This stall shall be <br /> of sufficient size for the animal to comfortably lie down and stand. <br />
