MINUTES October 12, 1989 3 BOD of HEALTH <br /> { <br /> Mr. Greelish motioned to actept, at the agents discretion, pressure treated <br /> i <br /> lumber and 'asphait shingles under D.E.P.-- guidelines at the town landfi l i , Mr. <br /> Costa seconded. i <br /> 4. ) Copy of letter from D.F.P. re: Site cl sification of hazardous mater- <br /> i a l.s a t Otis - F. . i. - The Board acknowledged receivirig this information <br /> . ) Memo from agent re: Licensiny fee for packers - Mr. costa recommended <br /> this Board adopt the same fee -charged in the town of Falmouth for packers. <br /> Ir. Greelish motioned to initiate a 1990 licensing fee for packers in the <br /> town of Mashpee in the amount of $500.00 per company, Mr. costa seconded. <br /> . Letters from p l umb i ng and e l ectr i ca i inspectors re: coombs school' - The <br /> Board acknowledged receiving the letters. <br /> APPOINTMENT: john Ferguson - Coombs School <br /> chool Building Committee member john Ferguson and Selectmen Will Hanson <br /> were in attendance for this scheduled appointment. <br /> Mr. Ferguson presented- to the Board a letter from the committee expressing <br /> their d i s a p ointment .i n the lack of action this Board Inas taken to rectify the <br /> water situation at the school . <br /> Mr. Costa relayed committee members were invited to review the preliminary <br /> report submitted by Weston & Sampson, which 'this Board at that -time had not <br /> off iciai ly accepted. fir. Costa explained funds must be secured to initiate <br /> the program suggested by .Weston & Sampson ,, at the meeting it was agreed upon <br /> that a meeting would be held with the Selectmen to discuss dvallable funds <br /> and what procedure was 'to be taken. <br /> Mr. Fergusson stated in speaking with Seiectmen Hanson it came to the <br /> Committee' s attention that perhaps something wasn 't right and commented water <br /> samples were taken indicating high load content and our committee was informed <br /> nothing could be done with the system without permission of the Board of Health. <br /> Mr. Ferguson commented what is happening is that the committee cannot fix the <br /> system, vie ,have the money, but cannot fix the system. <br /> Mr. Greelish informed- Mr. Feru1son there is not a definitive resolution, <br /> this Board was awaiting the study from High Wood Water. Mr. Greelish stated <br /> this Board rust determine if the High Wood Water situation is a plausible <br /> explanation for the high lead content. High Wood Vater has refused to release <br /> the study, this Board then tried to have another test- done so that some sort <br /> of determination could be rude. fir. Greeiish explained this Board cannot <br /> find a solution without knowing what the problem is definitively, and further <br /> explained that Weston & Sampson performed spot sampling, the ph found is not <br /> indicative of the problem. <br /> Mr. Ferguson stated if the burden rectifying this situation is left to <br /> the buiiding committee then we can utilize funds , which we have, in an con- <br /> tingency area to do. <br /> Mr. Greelish responded this Board rust come up with that definitive deter- <br /> mination. <br />
