MASHPEE HISTORICAL COMISSION
REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 179 1996
9.00 A. ISS.
I PRESENT. R. BURT
J• FERRAGAMO
DICKS
Re LYNCH
A. WHITLOW
II MINUTES of PREVIOUS MEETING:
The minutes of the previous meeting were not available for this meeting.
The minutes of the March 22, 1996 meeting will be approved at the May 15,
1.9.96 meeting.
III -REPORTS;
1. Grant Writing Workshop update: Ann Whitlow reported. to the meeting
relative to the Grant Writing- Workshop, Planning and Proposal Writ-
ing. Ann explained that allof the attendees had very small budgets,
non-profit agencies, etc.
When the group analyzed the Historical Commission's possibilities of
receiving grant monies, it was felt that the He C. had minimal chances
f receiving small grant monies.
Ann explained that she had been given some hints relative to what to
do and where to go for grants, as well as educating the group on how
to write the requests for- grants. It had been explained that those
requesting grants had to develop credibility. They would need a
letter-head. They- should have business cards. We should have a port-
folio of our events. It is also very important that their hours were
logged. In working on grants, the matching funds can be the price of
their hours.. Also, bio rapbies of all of the members' credentials
should be prepared.
Ann -suggested that the watchword for the 125th Anniversary, the old-
est and the -youngest churches and the museum right make a suitable
logo for the H. C.
Ann suggested that if they wanted to be professional, they would all
have to meet and discuss their goals and needs for the future.
It had been suggested that perhaps the H. C. could possibly have
computer hook.--up through the high school since the H. C. will be a -
val.uable resource to the high, school, Ann explained that she in-
tended to make an appointment with Dr. BeMoura and with Bob Whritenour
to determine whether the R. C. could in that gray, acquire the computer.
Joanne suggested that Ann might want to meet with Bob Whritenour
relative to the Small Cities Grant.
Aran will prepare an outline of suggestions for the H. C. to follow
and one of the regular meetings will be scheduled to discuss their
goals and future needs.
