-2-
Frank's presentation was on the. differences between the white man's written history
and the Native American Indian tradition of oral history. Rosemary's presentation rYs P
a was
titled "All About Mashpee". Both were well received, and they have been invited to do
more presentations around town, including New Seabury and to the Mashpee Women's
Club in the future.
Gordon Peters has talked to Hayden Building Movers of Cotuit to find out informally
what it would cost to move the schoolhouse. They estimated the cost at $24,500, which
includes moving the building and preparing the foundation as well. Frank Lord will get a
plot plan from Town Hall to help with locating the schoolhouse on the property.
Rosemary proposed that the Town investigate a State grant which would cover
municipal parks and improve the area where the schoolhouse is placed. The grant she
mentioned would pay between 50-70% of the project's total cost, including simple
landscaping of natural plants and walkways.
We will rewrite our Accessions form and rewrite the Orientation Guide section pertaining
to old photos as these can now be scanned and put on a CD, and the originals can be
returned to the donor. Rosemary brought in some old photos which have been scanned
and put on a disk which were pictures of the blizzard of 2004. She also brought in some
pictures of Harbor Ridge — with the old poor house, and now with the new, very large
homes that have been built at the site.
The Archives will be closing for the winter on Friday, December 10, and will reopen in
mid-March 2008.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:10am. The date for the next meeting is Monday,
December 3`tl, 2007.
I
