Reed suggested the Board also consider the purchase of <br /> condorniniurns in addition to new construction based on the following rationale: new <br /> construction would build a four bedroom house--limited number of residents to three with <br /> bedroom for the 24 hour staff person; purchase of four -br. condos could up the capacity of <br /> residents served to as maty as eight—depending on the need. Additionally, a family with a <br /> disabled child would be eligible to participate. Integrating units to serve 689 clients, rather than <br /> Clustering could eliminate the "stigma" possible attached to a facility that is known as a "group" <br /> home for special needs residents. <br /> Ms. Reed and Ms. Rudd will obtain information from other housing authorities that may have <br /> developed a special reeds program with purchase of condornirnirlrns and report back to the Board. <br /> Ms. Recd is to contact DMR and begin the application process. <br /> Ms. Reed advised the Board that 'DHCD did not approve the request for emergency mod. 111onies <br /> for the purpose oftermite elimination. She has, ars directed, forwarded a letter to John Canton <br /> asking for approval to utilize monies out of the operating reserve since they view this as a <br /> maintenance a project. Our current operating reserve is approximately $35,000 which is very near <br /> t:he mai mum (maxi muni reserve is 1 2 of total operating bud get of$90, oo . <br /> Ms. Reed advised the Board that the pending litigation of Johnson v. Mashpee Housing <br /> Authority Barrasso has been closed due to no finding, <br /> NEW BUSINESS- <br /> Based on the positive experience and the recommendation of the Director with regard to the <br /> Legal Services Buy to Program, a motion was made by MrAong and seconded by Mrs. Midis <br /> to contiiiue participation in the Legal Pilot Buy lit Program and the Director was <br /> authorized to pay the two hundred dollar oo.00 participation f . The motion was <br /> adopted. <br /> Ms. Rudd advised the Board that the Blackstone valley Association will be bolding their annual <br /> Christmas party and suggested a Board member attend. This association is very much geared and <br /> a very valuable resource and forum for Board members. A► motion was made by Ms. Rudd and <br /> seconded by firs. Brooks authorizingattendance for interested Board member—s. The <br /> motion was adopted. <br /> EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT- <br /> Terry Bard was introduced to the hoard as the newly hired Administrative Assistant. Ms. Reed <br /> advised the Board that l a.shpee Housing Authority will again be a host site for the Senior Aide <br /> Program. The Aide assigned could be one of our residents. <br />
