the work to. The inspector general has found out about the plight of the small housing
authority directors, and has asked for a meeting with representatives from our group,
The new rent regulations and calculations for the AHVP (Alternative Housing Voucher
Program) have been implemented.
We have been laving some difficulty with Barnstable Housing Authority around being
paid correctly for Section 8 Vouchers that vire are administering. The problem appears
to sten from the fact that they have a new accounting program as well as a new Leased
Housing coordinator. I have been working to resolve the issues for the past 2 months,
and am hoping that things will get better. I've been spending a lot of time of this over
the past month or so.
I've worked hard to compile an application for CPA funding, which we will talk about at
our meeting tonight. Letters of support have been received from The wampanoag Tribe
(Alice Lopez), Mashpee Police Department (Ann Howell), Mashpee Human services
(Louise Patrick), and Representative Matthew Patrick. These letters are part of the
application packet (which you have a copy of in your packet).
Annual Recertification packets will be mailed out to all Hom y r Village and Breezy Acres
residents the first of net week.
• Seven 7 companies have request RFP Packets for Asher's Path. Proposals are due in
to me by Tuesday, December 27, 2005.
Yve met with Jim Vacarro (for Mashpee Commons) along with Louise Patrick, director of
Mashpee Hunan Services. Louise and I would like to collaborate on a new initiative
with Mashpee Commons. The idea is for Mashpee Commons to provide office space for
us Mashpee Housing Authority and Mashpee Human services) along with the Cape cod
Neighborhood support coalition and possibly one other human service provide. In
addition to office space, a space would be designated for clients to come to for
information (booklets/leaflets/brochures , reference, and referral in a ""one-stop-
shopping"style for all human service related agencies, and programs. we would like a
computer internet system to offer as well. Mashpee Commons is an ideal location, as it
is in the new center of town, and set to be on the new bus-lire that the county is
working on running throughout town. Having human services, housing, and a reference
and referral center IN ONE SPOT would make it easier for clients to access more
services. Yve discussed the idea with Mary Leclair and she is very excited abet it; she
is encouraging me to try to get Mashpee Commons to donate all of the office space,
including the referral/reference area. Mashpee commons originally wanted to charge us
rent, but are now saying that we can talk some more and possibly work something out.
Louise Patrick and I are in the process now of scheduling our net meeting with them,
some time in January.
OLDBUSINESS:
Executive [director Evaluation: Mrs. Botsford stated that chairperson Harsh has signed the
original evaluation form and she provided a copy of the evaluation to all members.
NEWBUSINESS:
Breezy Acres DeedV.Ietter to town: Mrs. Botsford provided the board with a copy of a letter she
has sent to the town regarding the deed restriction on the property located at 570 old
Barnstable Toad/Breezy Acres. she explained that the deed reads that the property can only be
developed by adding 6 units of housing. In order to expand the property, the deed would need
to be changed. A letter to the town asks for assistance with this, as we believe it needs to be
done by torn meeting vote. It was suggested that maybe David Harsch could help us figure
out what needs to be done legally to get the deed changed.
Page 2of
