Income Housing Tax Credit Program training and obtained ray certification. I am at the Ash is
Path site three out of fire days.
BREEZY ACRES EXPANSION: The Authority is moving forward on the expansion of
Breezy Acres. The DHD has committed funding to develop two two-bedroom apartments for
family housing as well as a second building for special needs clients up to 5 bedrooms), in
conjunction with the $450,000 we were awarded last year in Community Preservation funds..
Recently the housing authority was awarded a grant by Mass Housing Partnership to have a
consultant look at the property to see if it would be financially feasible to develop more housing
on the property, and install a_septic treatment facility on the site. This work is slaktd to begin
in the summer of-2008. We are holding off on starting the other two buildings, pending the
outcome of the consultant's study.
HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:AM: Our first two applications to the CPA (Community
Preservation Act) for funding for this three-phase project was not funded. I have resubmitted
Phase I, which i's for a housing authority-based rental assistance program and I will been
meeting with the CPA committee about this application. We are hoping that it will be funded in
the net round.
Closin remarks
It has truly been a very challenging, yet productive year. It is so great to see our Ash is Path
Apartments project come to fruition., This was the housing authority's first development in 1
years. I look forward to continuing to train for and learn the Low Income Housing Tax credit
Program. I am committed to continuing to try to further develop our Breezy Acres site and to
try to start tip new programs through CPA (Community Preservation Act) funding. It is trey
hope that the town will see the great value in our proposed program and fund it this year.
};
h
I see a lot of positive things happening at the Mashpee Housing Authority and I am proud of .
what we've been able to accomplish, especially during such a personally challenging year. As .
things get busier, and more development starts we will need to look at extending our staff t
help with the growing workload.
I would like to express ray gratitude to the board for your support, flexibility, and
encouragement and I enthusiastically look forward to more accomplishments in the corning
year.
Respectfully submitted,
/S/
Leila Botsford, PHM
Executive Director
i
