The school committee shall permit the use of educational materials from for- <br /> profit vendors, as they pertain to our mission, providing the content has been <br /> approved by the Superintendent or a designee. Examples include links to sites <br /> that support curricula such as Everyday Math and Reading Street. <br /> Commercial materials that do not have a direct connection to district <br /> initiatives are not permitted. <br /> All links included on the pages must also meet the above criteria and comply <br /> with State and Federal law (e.g. copyright laws, Children's Internet Protection <br /> Act). <br /> Pages should reflect an understanding that both internal and external <br /> audiences will be viewing the information. The district retains all proprietary <br /> rights related to the design of websites and/or pages that are hosted on the <br /> district's servers. <br /> Oversight <br /> The superintendent will designate staff members who will be responsible for <br /> monitoring the accuracy and consistency of webpage content. Designees will be <br /> principals and directors who will have the right to view, edit, modify, or delete <br /> without notice any material deemed inappropriate. <br /> Timeline <br /> In general, 5 school days advance notice is required before material will be <br /> approved for posting. <br /> Content <br /> A website is only as good as the information it contains. <br /> Content should be: <br /> • Free of spelling and grammatical errors <br /> • Free of copyrighted material <br /> • Accurate, concise and well-written <br /> • Proofread in web browser to insure it has been edited correctly <br /> • Reviewed and updated regularly <br /> • Posted with a"show date" and a"hide date" <br /> Calendar <br /> Entries should be reviewed and update regularly and supporting information <br /> should be included in pop-up window. <br />
