Fire Station Building Committee <br /> Minutes 2 <br /> January 4,1999 <br /> DUIE.-DILIGENCE (continued) <br /> Due diligence was not quantified fully as a result of the holiday season, and will <br /> be further identified by the Committee at the next scheduled meeting- <br /> Mr. Thomas indicated that he was able to obtain general reference <br /> information on Charles J. Nafie&Associates and Allen M. Lieb Architects, <br /> but was unable to contact references pertaining to the architectural design <br /> firm of Wallace, Floyd Associates, Inc. <br /> The Fire Chief of the Poquonnoc Bridge Fire Station-in Groton, Connecticut <br /> spore highly of the facility designed by Charles J. Nafie. The building was <br /> designed to conform to the guidelines of a$2.5 million dollar budget. It was <br /> noted that there is work pending as a result of change orders that were not <br /> acted upon by the architect who's main focus was to remain within budget <br /> constraints. In addition,the relocation of employee's was not deemed an <br /> architectural challenge in this design informed Mr. Thomas. <br /> The general reference review of Allen M. Lieb Architects was favorable in the <br /> Town of Lincoln. 'Mr. Thomas indicated that he spoke with the Deputy Fire <br /> Chief abort this firm. Mr. Lleb was referred to as the"task master'. He was <br /> well focused, and designed a$2.5 million dollar building within budgetary limits. <br /> Mr. L leb was noted to be timely and communicated well with subcontractors. <br /> The Tibury Police and Ambulance facility was also investigated by Ir. Thomas. <br /> Mr. Lieb was also referred to as the `task master." The town was pleased with <br /> his performance. There were a lot of architectural challenges with the design of <br /> the Tisbury facility informed Mr. Thomas. <br /> Discussion followed. It is the consensus of the Committee to conduct a site Visit <br /> of the Groton and Lincoln facilities on Friday,January 8, 1999. <br /> It was noted that the Committee was unable to conduct due diligence on the <br /> architecturl firm of Wallace, Floyd, Associates,Inc. fir. Leonard Bertaux, <br /> C Principal-in-Charge will be requested to attend the meeting of Monday, <br /> January 11, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. to review the project proposal. Mr. Bertaux <br /> was unable to attend the architectural interview on December 2 1, 1.99 8. <br />
