Town of M.shee <br /> Fire Station Building Committee <br /> Minutes of meeting <br /> May 9, 2000 <br /> The Town of l ashpee Fire station Building Committee meeting <br /> . <br /> was called to order at the Fire Station, 99A Nathan Ellis <br /> Highway, Mahpee, assahusetts at 3 : 05 p.m. n Tuesday, May 9, <br /> 2000 . Joyce Mason,, Construction Procurement Specialist, <br /> presided. <br /> Committee Members present-, George Baker, Fire Chief; Joyce <br /> Mason; Elizabeth Petti Peter Thomas 3 : 12 p.m. ) ; Russell <br /> Wheeler, Assistant Building Inspector/clerk of the Works (3 . 10) . <br /> and George Wezniak. <br /> Mrs. Mason declared a quorum to he present and called the <br /> Meeting to order. <br /> Review of Testing Services Proposals <br /> Briggs Engineering Testing; Summit Ltd. ; and. Tibbetts <br /> Engineering Corp. <br /> Mrs. Mason explained the Town would d e t e gni.ne the number and <br /> amount of time required for each test conducted by the <br /> contractor. She mentioned three necessary tests, ' one each for <br /> steel, concrete, and sail . <br /> The Fire Chief stated the concrete testing is scheduled for <br /> the coring weekend when forms are to be put in place; with <br /> footings and the retaining wall scheduled for Noonday, May 15th. <br /> Mr. wheeler stated that two of the firms have BERS state <br /> approvals, Briggs Engineering and Tibbetts. - Be- noted there i <br /> little cost difference between them. <br /> Mrs. Mason commented that costs may work out to be less with <br /> the Tibbetts firm, as their rates are determined on an hourly <br /> basis. <br /> The Fire Chief requested one compaction test of the pour. <br /> Mrs. Mason asked for MLr. Wheeler' s recommendation; to which <br /> he responded one or two compaction tests would be reasonable, <br /> however testing at the time of the pour could he in excess of <br /> two to three times. There was some discussion as to which rates <br /> would be more cost effective (half-day vs. hourly) . <br /> Mr, wheeler explained the day and time of the pour would he <br /> scheduled in advance and should -not require the contractor to he <br /> present all day for any of the testing. <br />
