Fire Station'Building Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> July 20, 2000 <br /> Present; Joyce.Mason, George Baker,Dr. Elizabeth Peth <br /> Absent; George taenial , Peter Thomas,Joseph Peltier <br /> Guests: The Wallace Floyd Design Group <br /> Ammann & Whitney <br /> Clerk of the Works <br /> Deputy Fire Chief <br /> Town Administrator <br /> Meeting convened: 1:00 p.m. —1 lashpee Fire&Rescue Station <br /> Being no quorum,the following constitutes an understanding of <br /> matters of discussion and conclusions of concurrence. <br /> Members of the Fire Station Building Committee met with the Project <br /> Architect and Structural .engineers to riew the status of the 1ashpee <br /> Fire &Rescue Station renovation/construction project. <br /> In a distressing and embarrassing situation,Ammann&Whitney have <br /> detected a significant problem with the roof framing design. It needs to be <br /> re-designed to structurally meet code requirements. <br /> Early in the design process, it was the assumption of Ammann& Whitney <br /> that the raid-point was to be supported. 'The element above the f lli sly, or <br /> joist member over the apparatus bay and crew quarters is currently <br /> overstressed. Ammann& Whitney stated that with a limited budget they <br /> eliminated some of the checking that should have been done in the initial <br /> design phase. <br /> Standen Contracting Company has been alerted to anticipate a change t <br /> the framing and 1s anticipated to obtain price quotes for pre-fabricated <br /> trusses and conventional framing. The change order to cover the roof area <br /> is presently estimated to cost between $12,000 to $20,000. The figure <br /> does not reflect the use of the pre-fabricated truss system. <br /> The details for Standen to obiain pnice quotations from Ammann <br /> Whitney are anticipated to be secured by Friday of next week. <br />
