Possible uses of the new library
It's never too early to begin exploring potential new venues and uses
that can take place in the new library. The new multi-purpose room
can be used to host a variety of events. Here are a few-
Art
openings & displays — the walls could either be rented to display
..- art.or,actists could display-their-work-for sale,with -portion of the sale
going to the Friends.
Pastry readings
Small musical programs
Classes for:
Quilting, sewing, scrap-booking {a popular new pastime} & genealogy
(Falmouth has a well-attended monthly-program).
Reiki or other holistic type events (could be income producing)
Author programs, Recently I participated in "Author's Friday"— a
lecture series at the Dennisport Public Library, run by the Friends of
the Dennis Public Library 'and held from May through November. This
is a highly successful program that features mostly Cape authors that
could be emulated here in Mashpee. There is no program of this kind
currently anywhere on the.Upper Cape. In the near future I plan to
suggest to the Friends that Mashpee such a program modeled on
Dennis, commencing in the summer of 20'10. With their assistance I
will volunteer to coordinate and host this program, which can also
attract off-Cape authors.
Suggest we more fully develop these and additional ideas.
