The Massachusetts Children's Book Award Book Club for 4th to 6th graders met on February 17th <br /> We had 11 out of the 14 registered members enjoy pizza (provided at cost by Zoe's Pizza) and <br /> book discussion. This was our final meeting and the members voted for their favorite book. <br /> The program is run by Salem State College who will tally all of the Massachusetts students' <br /> votes and announce the winner in April. We will be honoring the Mashpee participants in <br /> March. Each student will receive a certificate ofartici ation and then we will have a magic <br /> p p g <br /> show by Marcus the Magician. Since this book club was such a great success, I plan to start it <br /> up again in September. <br /> We had two special events during the February school vacation week: <br /> February 22nd Spanish Bingo 17 <br /> February 24th Pumpernickel PuppetShow—sponsored by the Friends 145 <br /> Preschool Story Hour has been held twice a week, Mondays and Fridays. Because the library <br /> was closed on Fridays in February, story hour was cancelled and many families were <br /> disappointed. <br /> February 7th Preschool Story Hour 10 <br /> February 14th Preschool Story Hour 18 <br /> February 28th Preschool Story Hour 9 <br /> Rosemary Modic, Early Childhood Specialist, is running two sessions of Toddle Time each week <br /> which is supported by the Coalition for Children (formerly the Upper Cape Family Network). <br /> The Coalition for Children is also supporting a weekly Creative Movement class and a Mixed Age <br /> Playgroup. The Mashpee Family and Community Partnership is sponsoring Lap Babies, a weekly <br /> story time for infants and their caregivers.
