RGI i
L y
S yt
Author, Coleen Murtagh Paratore Tea Party Refreshments
On June 28th we had a Tea Party with the author of The Wedding Planner's Daughter series,
Coleen Murtagh Paratore. Coleen spoke to the 37 people in attendance about her life, the
writing process, and answered questions. Everyone enjoyed the yummy refreshments: punch
with sherbet balls, cupcakes displayed like a wedding cake, and cherry cordials! In Coleen's
book, which is set on Cape Cod, the main character's grandmother owns a candy shop and
Willa's favorite candy is cherry cordials. Willa and her grandmother try to come up with
different flavors of salt water taffy, so I had goody bags filled with taffy and tied with a wedding
ring. It was such a lovely event; however, I could not have done this without the help of many
dedicated volunteers. Maria Cortez baked and decorated the cupcakes. Helene DeFoe, .
Barbara Bauer, and Saynab Maalin served the refreshments. Ed DeFoe and Florencia Cortez
helped me for two hours setting up the Event Room and Shannon Watts made all of the goody
bags. The day after the Tea Party a mother stopped by my office to tell me how wonderful and
memorable the event was for her two daughters and that she would like to see more programs
like this one.
