Mashpee Public Library
April 4,2012-Board of Trustees Meeting
Director's Report
CIRCULATION
CLAMS Circulation figures for the month of March are not yet available, and it appears that a
two month turnaround on statistics may become the new standard. I will plan to include the
March numbers in the report for the May meeting.
I have been working on developing other measurement tools which might be worth including in
this monthly report.
COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT
ITEMS ADDED
One of our goals is to increase the size and improve the quality of the collections. During the
month of March, 397 items were added to the physical (versus eBooks/eAudios)collections.
This includes books,DVDS,CDs, audio books, video games, and children's materials. It does
not include new editions of magazines which we receive monthly. In order to provide context for
this figure, I compiled data on the number of items added to collections in other CLAMS
Libraries during the same time period:
Chatham 302 Items Added
Orleans 360 Items Added
Brewster 371 Items Added
Mashpee 397 Items Added
Harwich 644 Items Added
Falmouth 724 Items Added
These numbers correlate closely with the rankings of circulation figures posted by each library
on a monthly basis. Falmouth is the largest library with the largest circulation and adds the most
items to its collections per month. Harwich is generally second, and Mashpee is consistently the
third busiest library on Cape Cod.
ITEMS LOST OR MISSING(Mashpee Only)
Items Lost and PAID 10
Items Lost and Billed 51
Missing Items 18
