k <br /> k - <br /> Mashpee Public Library <br /> August 14, 201 2- Board' f Trustees Meeting <br /> Director's Report <br /> CLAMS Circulation figures for the month of July 2012 were 19,438, which represents a 23.1% <br /> increase over the figure of 15,789 posted in June 2012, and a 6.1% increase over the 18, 315 <br /> transactions recorded in July 2011. <br /> Circulation figures for eBooks checked out-by 1fashpee patrons in the month of July 2012 <br /> equaled 903. Currently, 982 I l shpee patrons have registered for account'to.check out e o ks. <br /> The Library issued 206 new library cards during July 2012. <br /> During the month of July,the first floor Event and Conference Room.s were booked for 24 <br /> meeting and programs, which were attended by a total of 91'1 patrons. <br /> OTHER ACTIVITIES <br /> 0 fn early July, the four month, library-wide project to place new Barcodes on the front ofall <br /> library items was completed. The ne ly.pla ed batcodes will assist the statewide delivery <br /> service to streamline their process. On July 18, I drove to the headquarters of the <br /> Massachusetts Library System in Marlborough, Massachusetts to return the rental equipment <br /> for the project and eonf nn our.completion with the state office. <br /> 0 August 7, along with King Landry of the'town's Human resources Department, 1 <br /> conducted interviews to fill the part-time Circulation Assistant poition vacated by Sheena <br /> Steirier. Sarnuel Rome has been offered the position, and pending final sign off is expected <br /> to officially begin work next week. Samuel has been working at the Library since April 2012 <br /> on a part-time contract basis, which has given us the ability to observe his skills and work <br /> ethic firsthand. He has been a-reliable and dedicated employee and brings great technology <br /> shills to the position. <br /> On July 24, I met with DPW Director Catherine Laurent to review a-number of issues related, <br /> to the buildings and grounds, which iluded: <br /> 1. Exploring the possibility of reducing the number of parking spaces in the lot reserved for <br /> Low-Emission Vehicles or Car Polers. We have-received several inquiries from <br /> dissatisfied patrons who feel that there are too many reserved spaces, and that the low <br /> emission criteria are a form of discrimination-against those who cannot afford a hybrid <br /> vehicle. Catherine indicated that we can reduce the number of spaces without impacting <br /> the building's LD certification status. I would request that the Trustees express their <br /> opinion, and vote on this matter if required. Since the change would not affect the <br />
