have shared 33 pages of raw data, which.will be refined as I begin the actual process of
writing the Strategic Plan.
Overall, the responses and cotnments were very positive, and theom munity clearly
appreciates and values the Library. Dearly 70% of those who completed the survey are
full-time Mashpee residents, and 92% of all respondents are library cardholders. roughly
2%reported that they use the Library in person at least once a month, and 5.3% offered
that they do not use any of the Library's online services (via our.website . The most used
service is the Adult Boob Collection, which was noted b % of the respondents. The
DVD collection posted the next highest usage rate at % of the response pool. The lack
of programnungwas reflected throughout the data, and the community indicated its
priorities in this area would be author talks, local and American historyprograms, films,
boob groups, cultural programs, and current events. A desire to see programs and
opportunities for.you.ng adults was also mentioned numerous tunes in the connnent
section. The.community seemed to be relatively pleased with the Library's ability to offer
access to technology and computers though expressed a.desire for an expanded eBook
program.
When asked to suggest what the Library's priorities should be for the next three years, the
comments invariably listed the desire for more hours, more programs, and more boobs
available in the collection. In terms of demographics, an estimated 2% of the
participants reported that they are between the ages of 50 and 79. Only 4.3% of the
responses were generated by patrons ages 29 or under.
The wrap up meeting.with the Strategic Planning Committee is scheduled for this
Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Library Conference-Room. The group will-discuss
the results of the surveys and establish priorities to be addressed in the formal draft of the
plan. Steve Brown of Conuonw lth Solutions will be on hand to mo l r .t the
meeting.
The Library has continued its community partnerships with various non-profits. The
Library hosted a Blood Drive with Cape Cod Healthcare in late July. The Cape Cod
Volunteers program is gearing up to launch its volunteer Opportunity Center, which will
be based at the Library. Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Cape Cod rcently hosted n-
infonnation night at the Library, and have asked if it could repeat this event every three
months. r will be featured as a guest speaker next week at the Mashpee women's' Club
Luncheon.
' The in-house Book Sale has had a very successful'start in its first year. preliminary
figures suggest that we will net close to $8000.00 from this venture, which will be an
increase over the estimated $4000.00 generated from the single clay sales of last year. we
