t , <br /> MEETING OF BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> November 17 , 1982 <br /> 000 p.m. - Convene Meeting. <br /> PRESENT: Chairwoman B. Jean Thomas , Selectmen Chester A. Garland, Town <br /> Counsel Joseph J. Reardon, Executive Secretary Joseph F. Murphy. <br /> GUESTS : Mrs . Jane Labute, - Mr. Bryan Anderson, Mr. Richard C. LeMoine , Mrs . <br /> Christine Tremblett and Mr. Charles Buckingham. <br /> Motion by Sel. Garland to accept the minutes of the November 9 , 1982 <br /> Administrative and November 10 ,1982 Regular meetings . Seconded by Chm. <br /> Thomas . This is a vote. <br /> HEARINGS AND APPOINTMENTS : <br /> 2 : 00 p.m. - Mr. Bryan Anderson and Mr. Richard LeMoine owners of Andy 's <br /> Market were present for the video games . Chm. Thomas stated <br /> the notice of the hearing was in the paper and that Mr. LeMoine <br /> had been informed on September 28 , 1982 of the need for a permit <br /> and a hearing. <br /> Mr. LeMoine gave proof that he had notified his abutters Chm. <br /> Thomas asked for their comments . Mr. Anderson explained that the <br /> video games are not the main object of the store. He said that <br /> they thought the vending machine company had gotten all the <br /> permits or whatever is necessary in this case. Sel. Garland <br /> asked when the games were installed. Mr. Anderson said they <br /> had gone in at the beginning of Summer. He also stated that they <br /> are very strict as far as allowing only three persons around the <br /> video games, so that it won' t inconvenience their other custo- <br /> mers. He said being a grocery and liquor store they offer many <br /> conveniences which they feel the video games are part of this . <br /> Mr. LeMoine explained that the reason it took so long for them <br /> to do something about the application for the permit was that he <br /> was on his honeymoon. He also said that when "The Farm" closed <br /> they were very strict to enforce the conduct. <br /> Sel. Garland said he has strong reservations about that or any <br /> other devices in a location which is of combine use such as a <br /> grocery and liquor store. He is concerned about children. He <br /> stated that bars have video games , but the age of the customers <br /> is important. Sel. Garland moved that the application on the <br /> video games be taken under advisement. Seconded by Chm. Thomas . <br /> This is a vote . . Board said that they would be hearing from them. <br /> Board thanked them for coming. <br /> 3:00 p.m. - Mr_ Charles Buckingham from the Board of Health came to discuss <br /> with the Selectmen the final form from the Solid Waste Committee. <br /> He said they are making suppositions . He also said the proposal <br /> from Tri Sol left questions to be answered. He discussed loca- <br /> tions . He said the major transfer station might be in Yarmouth, <br /> because of the railroad. He informed the Board that he would <br /> be attending a meeting tomorrow. He said the bottom line is if <br /> our weight figures are accurate it would cost the Town $120 ,000 , <br />
