R � � <br /> s' A <br /> Board of Selectmen Meeting - <br /> Minutes of September '.5, 1984 <br /> Page 4 <br /> uat Traffic <br /> e Board reviewed a request from Chief Frye dated August 30 with reference to appointing <br /> a Special Police officer with limited powers for the purpose of directing traffic on <br /> Route 2 .in and around the Auguat plant. The Board asked that this be scheduled for <br /> September 19. Chairman Hanson asked Chief Frye if Auguats could provide someone? Chief <br /> Frye said that. they could provide someone, but the person would have to have police powers; <br /> i <br /> however) he would be an Auguat employee and paid by them. <br /> Ad Hoc Water Supply Committee <br /> jJean 'Tomas said that the Ad Hoc Water Supply Committee is raring to go and presented the <br /> following names to the Board for appointment: Alton T. Jones, Robert Johnson, Harry Shuman, <br /> George Perkins and Joseph Di Maggio. Jean said that they have put together their duties and <br /> that Mr. Tones has been named as Chairman Pro-Tem so that he can get the ball rolling. <br /> Dick Terry moved to appoint Alton T. Jones, Robert Johnson, Harry Shuman, George Perkins and <br /> Joseph Di Maggio to the Ad Floc Water Supply Committee. Jean Thoma8 seconded the notion. All <br /> in favor. <br /> Letter From Semass <br /> The Board reviewed a letter~ dated August 29 from George Tobey, Project Developer for Semass <br /> with reference to companies who can provide free estimates for installation and equipment <br /> costs for.mini-transfer stations. Chairman Hanson asked that the letter be turned over to <br /> the Executive Secretary. Jean Thomas told the Board that at the finance meeting today, they <br /> voted $5,000 for an attorney to work over the proposed contract for all the towns. She said <br /> that the overall opinion is to go as far as they can and gather as much information as they <br /> can. e <br /> ktract for Clerk of Works <br /> e Board of Selectmen signed the contract for the Clerk of the Works for the Public Works <br /> Building. Note: San Re has three copies and signed copy will be returned to the Board of <br /> Selectmen. <br /> Demolition from Town Building - Route 130 <br /> The Board reviewed a Letter dated August 28 from the Board of Health stating that there is <br /> no room at the dump for the debris from the demolition of the old Town Fall. Chairman <br /> Hanson said that the town will have to Find some other means of disposing of i t. <br /> Outside Burning By Developers <br /> The Board reviewed a Memo with reference to outside burning by developers from the Board of <br /> Health dated August 28. Jean said that the memo was a result of her meeting with the Board <br /> of Health and bringing out various things. She said that they are saying that if they could <br /> work out ars agreement with the Fire Chief to have them stock pile the stuff and then burn it, <br /> it would sage space at the landfill, <br /> - <br /> Tbwn Counsel said that there would probably not be any problem with environmental regulations <br /> in burning stumps but that there would be a problem with burning tires. Chairman Hanson said <br /> that he talked with Chief Hartin, who commented that they would never be able to sell the idea <br /> to DEQE with smoke going into the air. Discussion centered around debris being brought to the <br /> landfill with Jean Thomas commenting that there is no question at all that building debris has <br /> shortened the life of the landfill. <br /> 4ointment to Conservation Commission <br /> k Terror moved to appoint Attorney Elliot Rosenberg to the Conservation Commission. Jean <br /> omas abstained from voting stating that her reason:,) was""'t'` because she is a member of the <br /> Conservation Commission. Will Hanson seconded the motion. -1 in favor. <br /> ■ <br />
