*r Board of Selectmen Page Four Regular Meeting Monday, August 17 , 1987 Donald Lund had been proposed by the Harbor Master to perform this patrol duty but the proposal had been withdrawn. Mr. Lund would have to be appointed by the Board of Selectmen to the position of an Assistant Harbor Master in order to act in this capacity. In order for the Board to act on this appointment this evening , lir. Gottlieb would Have to step down from any discussion or action as he is ars Assistant Harbor Master and in that instance , there were insufficient members of the Board of Selectmen present to consti- tute a. quorum. Suggestions for temporary protective or patrol measures were solicited from Deputy Chief of Police Maurice Cooper. Deputy Chief Cooper said that he would look into the possibility of a detail and discuss it further with Mrs Carter on Tuesday, August 18 , 1987. Mr. Carter will look into the possibility of having a patrol provided by Save the Via. , Inc . The Board briefly discussed the possibility of putting out buoys to. indicate daxigerous proximity to the pipe . Mr. Caster further reported that the big dredge is expected to be at the site within the next day or two or at least , within this week. NEW BUSINESS : 1. Police Department - Out-of-State travel expenses . In a, memorandum submitted by the I eputChief of Police , out�o f- state travel expense monies in the amount of $1,338. 00. are re- quested e-guested to be approved for Bradford R. Fish, Sr, for attendance at the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms In- structors , Tnc . rational Training Conference to be held September 28 , 1987 through October 2 , 1987 in Mesa, Arizona. Deputy Chief Cooper included a. break-down of expenses and noted that the amount of $1r500, in the Police Expense Account has been budgeted for the conference and is available for transfer to the out-of-State Travel Account. After discussion, Mr. Carter moved that the Deputy Chief of Police be authorized to 'expend $1,338,00, for Out-of-State travel expenses for Bradford R. Fish, Sr. Mr. Gottlieb seconded the motion. The vote- was unanimous * Article will be needed for next Town Meeting. 2. letter of resignation - Board Secreta r letter of resignation dated August 7 , 1987 has been received from Board Secretary, Judith N. Foote , resignation to be effective on August 24, 1987. Mr. Caster moved to accept the resignation of Judith N. Foote as submitted. Mr. Gottlieb seconded the motion. The vote was unani- mous e 3 .
