Kevin Shackett stated that all the time that is being spent ori this is a waste of money and time. <br /> The Chair stilted it was important to move forward. <br /> Lis.a Pena asked what Benefit the selectmen would have to receive this information. <br /> The entire board and Executive Director agree that this is atm equitable solution to time on-going <br /> issues raised that need to stop. <br /> NEW BUSINESS- <br /> A) Potential onpartumty„tnr affordable homes purchasing: Mrs. Botsford reported that she had <br /> been -approached by a developer who is interested in purchasing some.available land in town, <br /> cotistruetingT housing ori it, and selling it to the housirmg authority for affordable year-round <br /> rentals. There was not,a lot of information at this time, but she wanted the board to be aware <br /> of'this and the fact that she would freed to investigate if there are any grants orfunds for the <br /> purchase of said homes in order to make the numbers work. 'file board agreed to close <br /> discussion on this until and unless more concrete information was available. <br /> OTHER BUSINESS: Mrs, Botsford relayed a story to the board regarding a staff eeting in <br /> which she and Ms. Mitchell were talking about all of'the effort and time that the staff is potting <br /> into the Housing Assistance Program (HAP) far such little financial benefit to the housing <br /> authority. Frustrations were voiced about how much scrutiny there is by the town oil this <br /> program and misinformation being shared by some selectmen and them reported in time <br /> newspaper. They discussed the fact that we should just not continue the program after this round <br /> of funding is up, as it: is just SO time-consuming. Later in [lie day. Ms. Mitchell reported to Mrs. <br /> Botsford about a meeting.-she just had with a HAP recipient who had Timet all goals and was going <br /> off the program because they no logger needed it; The success of their goal reaching; was <br /> discussed and Mrs. Botsford and Ms.Mitchell agreed that it was stories like this(hat is why we <br /> :are running this prograrii. We are.helping so many people. Mrs. Botsford stated that there are <br /> stories like this that happen.all the time to remind us why we do what we do,and she just wanted <br /> to share that with the board. <br /> Mr, Halpern then reported to the board that the town's Affordable Housing Trust met recently. <br /> The"frust is made up of nine members, with the majority being (lie selectmen, Others are <br /> menibers of the community and he is one member. He updated the board on the progress of the <br /> 950 I almouth Road property that the town recently received a feasibility study on. The study <br /> showed that the property could be developed with-SO-60 units with the allowable 5 nil of <br /> nitrogen output on the septic.At the meeting; however, Selectmen Gottlieb stated that lie wants <br /> the project to have zero nitrogen output which, in Mr, HalperWs opinion, makes the development <br /> impossible, <br /> Ms, Pena mentioned that she was a.guest speaker at a recent breakfast meeting for the Mel King <br /> Institute.
