Audience comment... Patricia Fiero (HAC) questioned why questionnaire from this Committee. She asked wouldn't that be done by other town boards. The Committee explained the purpose of the questionnaire and that it guarantees success for affordable housing. Ms. Fiero said that they are looking at possibility of affordable apartments at Plaza del Sol Motel property but they are no where near ready to ask for support. The architect reviewed the property but she has no idea whether or not they can get funding to finance it. Motel was not built to be year-round housing. Following in-depth discussion, Zella stated that the Committee certainly supported the idea of affordable apartments, but would not put in writing until more details were provided. Eric will send revised questionnaire to Ms. Fiero (HAC). Use of Available Funds towards creation of affordable housing... • Eric, Deborah, and Zella met with Cape Cod Commission. • One recommendation was to use this money to help partner with someone else. • Consider using pre-existing structure instead of all new building. • For legal reasons, cannot use funds to support Habitat because Habitat legally cannot accept funds. However, the Committee questioned this statement and Zella to contact Habitat for accurate information. Following discussion, consensus was reached that Eric will research a RFP prepared by Laura Shufelt of the Cape Cod Commission and submit to the Committee for their review. Ultimately the Committee will prepare a RFP and the Committee will see who comes forward with the best proposal. Committee Membership ... Zella and Jaime offered to address Mashpee Women's Club group. Trudi will contact the Women's Club with the offer. Next Meeting... Tuesday, January 4, 2005, 7 p.m., Mashpee Town Hall. Action Items • Eric to check with Lori (ZBA) to get count on number of in-law apartments that were done • Eric to add another 3 -year Plan and outlook and include staternent that Affordable Housing Committee works and coordinates with ZBA. • January 7, 2005 — Town Reports due. Zella and Eric will work up report. • Place "co -housing" itern on February Meeting agenda so this Committee can explore this topic. Also Eric to do Internet search to see if anything on this topic appears for other towns. • Committee members should e-mail Eric suggestions/comments, if they have any, on the drafted presentation preparation questionnaire. If no comments received within a week, then Deborah and Eric will proceed and bring revised draft to next meeting. • Zella to contact Habitat for information on whether or not they legally cannot accept funding for affordable housing.
