10 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> November S, 2018 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Discussion and Approval of Appointment as a Mashpce Warden: Gillian Dorman: <br /> Correspondence was received from Deborah Dami; Town Clerk dated October 31, 2018 recommending the <br /> appointment of Gillian Dorman to the position of Mashpee Warden. Ms. Dorman has been a Mashpee <br /> resident since 2004, and has previously worked at the polls. She is currently working for the Massachusetts <br /> Trial Court as a Probation Case Specialist. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to appoint Gillian Dorman as a Warden for the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton. <br /> VQTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes <br /> Selectman,O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Opposed, none <br /> Discussion and Approval of.Comments to be sent to the Federal Communications Commission: Proposed <br /> Reauced Franchise Fees and Impact on PEG Channels, Proposed Mixed Use Rules: Assistant Town Manager <br /> �. Wayne Taylor: <br /> With changes proposed to the Cable Communications Policy Act, the Board of Selectmen was requested to <br /> support comments regarding the Act that could significantly reduce the franchise fee payments from the cable <br /> companies to the franchising authorities. <br /> Wayne E. Taylor, Assistant Town Manager and William Nay, General Manager of Mashpee TV were present <br /> to further discuss the recommended action with the Board of Selectmen. A comment letter dated November <br /> 5, 2018 in strong opposition to the proposal identified areas of concern if the plan was implemented. <br /> Comcast is the sole provider for the Town of Mashpee and residents rely on cable services daily including <br /> PEG Access channels for the update of local news, information and governmental decisions. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to approve the letter of comments to be sent to the Federal <br /> Communications Commission, and direct staff members to review additional avenues to make the <br /> interest of the Town of Mashpee known. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman O'Hara. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman Sherman,yes Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Opposed, none <br />
