NStar substation (continue
1
Fire D mentIssues
Regarding secondary containment for oil, Joel Clifford advised that the Fire Departrnent is seeking
clarification from the State Fire Marshall's office but at this point a land license is still needed
George Baker said they spoke with the State Fire Marshall#s office. Chief Baker said if NStar can
give the Fire Department the electronic sheet of the storage to review, they'll forward electronically to
State Fire Marshall's office who grants to look at it to determine whether it has to go to land license
process. Public Hearing needed for lana license. David Velez going to talk with Chief Baiter to get
State Fire Marshall contact information, etc.
Road/sand Dit Issues
Joyce Mason stated that at the last meeting with this group DPMI had asked that something be done
with the sand pit parking lot. John ci ko responded that the engineers are working on what can be
done to keep the road clean and keep edge from breaking down. David Velez said they replaced the
transformer and because of the extreme turn they cut across the field and disturbed the road. This
was a rare situa.ti n...won't happen again.
Joyce said residents have raised concerns so anything that can be done to be neighborly would be
appreciated.
John eicko said parking should be the exception, not the rale. Access road will be gamed. Joel
Clifford advised there would have to be a Knox bot lock.
David Velez said they would be agreeable to move sand area for the turtles to a safer location as
suggested by the Comm ittee—movin would mitigate sand lot problem.. NStar was working with
Natural Heritage on the box turtle habitat and Natural Heritage suggested NStar keep the existing
sand area for nesting purposes. NStar agreed to go to Natural Heritage and see if moving the sand
area suggested by the Committee was acceptable.
NStar agreed to locate gate down by the road. Glen Harrington said.if they put heavy duty timbers
across that would deter parking.
Ply
John Cicko said shielding masts and structures of the pole will be around 60 feet in height. Charlie
Ilaintanis asked whether that would be in FAA zone. Devin McCune said he didn't know# he will find
out.
It is Star's intention to seek a DPU exemption. They are in that accident protection zone and they
do have excessive height and will require a variance for that. They said the purpose of going the
Ply route is not to eliminate Mashpee from the process --that's why they're here to address
Ilashpee"s concerns and seek Mashpee's support.
2
