The Chair stated the Mashpee Community Garden has five members as of yet and he is <br /> one of them. They need two more and he is hoping to get a member from the Historic <br /> Commission. It looks like there isn't going to be much growing this year. He would like <br /> to propose solarization of the gardens to get rid of the weeds, if they can start this <br /> summer while the weather is hot. <br /> Expanding the Single Use Plastic Bag Ban Bylaw: National Movement to Ban <br /> Plastic Straws and Bottles <br /> The Chair said he is still trying to get information from Provincetown for their bylaws on <br /> plastic cups and straws and polyethene. <br /> ACTION ITEMS UPDATE. <br /> Mashpee Greenway Re-design of and Funding for the Quashnet River Footbridge <br /> Mary Waygan updated the members on the Greenway re-design. She said going <br /> forward these meetings will be Planning Board meetings. She said David Weeden, <br /> Member of the Planning Board and a member of the Tribe, will be getting some <br /> AmeriCorps Volunteers for 8 months and said they want to do housing but he thinks <br /> they may be able to help with the footbridge. She noted we need to locate on a plan the <br /> site of the footbridge. There will be two very simple wood bridges making a loop and to <br /> bring this before Conservation we have to site that on a map. Tom Hoppensteadt <br /> stated the school is not in favor of having anything coming closer to the school grounds <br /> for safety reasons. Mary said her vision is for anyone who uses the Library, Mashpee <br /> Commons, the Senior Center to be able to walk over and get to the River and do a loop. <br /> The trails going over to the school will be discussed later. Mary noted Falmouth is <br /> interested in connecting their trails with Mashpee's trails. <br /> Mashpee CWMP: <br /> DNR Estuary Restoration/Shellfish Propagation: Update <br /> Ashley Fisher gave an update on the propagation. They deposited 2,000 bags of <br /> oysters in the Mashpee River in two days and made the Cape Cod Times. They also <br /> installed two brand new upweller tanks at the Little River site and they are up and <br /> running and housing 10 million plus quahogs. They also received from the County a <br /> contribution of 450,000 quahogs that are currently in their docks. <br /> She said they are working on getting a kiosk for tittle River to explain what's happening. <br /> The Chair suggested holding an event so people can see what is going on down there. <br /> He will speak will the Town Manager. <br /> IMA's with other towns; DRI Review: No Update <br /> Planning for sewers; connections with private sewers: Update <br /> Ashley Fisher reported there was a Water Quality update at the Selectmen's meeting on <br /> Monday.
