5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> November 13, 2017 <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Request to Change Mashpec Polling Place Town Clerk Deborah Dami: <br /> Deborah Dami, the Town Clerk was in attendance to request the Board of Selectmen vote to move <br /> all five precincts to the Christ the King Parish great room. With the renovation of the Quashnet School <br /> construction project scheduled to begin in late April,the gym will be required for classroom usage. <br /> The great room at the Parish has enough space for all precincts with adequate parking and handicap <br /> accessibility. Rodney C. Collins, Town Manager indicated this matter has been discussed and <br /> confirmed by Town Counsel the property owned by the Church may legally be utilized by the Town of <br /> Mashpee as a polling place. Public notice would be included in regular mailings to avoid additional <br /> costs. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to approve the change of the Mashpce Polling place from <br /> the Quashnet School gymnasium to the Christ the King Parish great room as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Sherman. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes <br /> Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes Opposed, none <br /> Discussion and Approval of Veteran's Beach Pass: <br /> Lawrence Cron, a Mashpee resident and Veteran presented a proposal to the Board of Selectmen to <br /> show appreciation to Mashpee Veterans by granting Veterans a Iifetime pass to the Mashpee beaches. It <br /> was noted the Assistant Town Manager, Wayne E. Taylor assisted Mr. Cron in this endeavor. With a <br /> Veterans identification card and/or DD-214 form showing release from the military, a beach pass would <br /> be issued. <br /> The Board of Selectmen was highly supportive of this proposal. It was agreed the Mashpee Veteran <br /> would be required to be a registered voter of the Town of Mashpee in order to receive a lifetime beach <br /> pass. Mr. Cron indicated he would be presenting this proposal to the entire Cape Cod community, <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to approve the Lifetime Veteran's Beach Pass for Veteran's <br /> who are registered voters in the Town of Mashpee. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cotton. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Selectman O'Hara,yes Selectman Cotton,yes Selectman Sherman,yes <br /> Selectman Cahalane,yes Selectman Gottlieb,yes Opposed, none <br />
