Page 5
Board of Selectmen
Minutes
September 30, 1996
QLD BUSINESS:
.jI
mned RotaryPaAdj_acent o Middy School:
.. ., Adjacent-
Lo
the request of Selectman Dinizio,Tom Fudala was present to
discuss the planned rotary by-pass with the Board of Selectmen.
Mr.Fudala presented maps of the location adjacent to the Middle School
for the Board's review. It was noted that a Mashpee Growth Study
j
Committee proposed the by-pass in 1983 in accordance with the Village
Center Development plan.
In 1989, a By-Pass Committee was formed, and recommended the by-pass
adjacent to the Middle School as outlined.
Selectman Dinizio related concerns with respect to the school as it presently
exists with the newly constructed addition. It was noted that the by-pass
as previously proposed is now 40'from the Middle School addition.
In response,Mr.Fudala has recommended to change the layout,to
allow for a minimum set back of 140'.
Mr.Fudala indicated that the rotary will not ultimately handle the traffic
in the next ten years. He suggested the Board consider reviewing the
proposed relocation of Great Hay Road with the landowner of the Quashnet
Valley Country Club who is directly impacted.
It was noted that there is an approved subdivision plan for the above area
of concern. Mr.Fudala indicated that he has discussed this concern with
Mr.LaCava, the landowner who has expressed an interest to work with
the Town on this matter prior to development.
It is the consensus of the Board to authorize the Executive Secretary to
further review this matter with the Town Planner,Planning Board,
Superintendent of Schools, and School Committee in conjunction with the
landowner, and neighborhood effected by the proposed relocation of
Great Hay Road.
