Page 6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> September 30, 1996 <br /> LD BUSINESS: <br /> Bufflehead Bav Article Discussion: <br /> Mr.Fudala was present-to discuss the October Town Meeting warrant <br /> article relative to the acquisition of the Bufflehead Bay property. It was <br /> noted that the Town's portion of the property will be located adjacent to <br /> the existing 40 acres of Town owned land,northward to the cranberry <br /> bogs, and westward to Jehu Pond. <br /> The exact boundaries and acreage to be acquired will be determined upon <br /> the completion of new appraisals informed Mr.Fudala who noted that <br /> the enclosed map does not depict the precise area of land at this time. <br /> The purchase would be done in conjunction with the Federal purchase <br /> of the remainder of the Bufflehead Bay property stated Mr. Fudala. <br /> The Trust for Public Lands (TPL)option agreement with thero e <br /> P P rty <br /> owners requires that they exercise their option by December 31, 1995,and <br /> actually close on the property by March 31, 1997 indicated Mr.Fudala. <br /> Mr.Fudala stated that the total Bufflehead Bay parcel encompasses <br /> 325 acres of land in Mashpee, and has a property value estimation of <br /> $3.75 million. <br /> Discussion followed with respect to the Self Help program grant in <br /> the amount of$250,000, and the Town of Mashpee's matching <br /> contribution. <br /> Mr.Fudala indicated that he is presently working with the TPL to <br /> develop a detailed description of the property for Town Meeting. <br /> NEWIUSINESS.: <br /> Scallgp ReLmlations 1996-1997: <br /> Richard York, Shellfish Constable was present to recommend the <br /> Board approve the Scallop Regulations as presented for 1996-1997. <br /> There are no changes to the regulations as proposed. <br /> If the Board maintains the regulations, scallop season will open at <br /> sunrise, October 1, 1996 and close as sunset,December 31, 1996. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Dinizio to approve the Scallop <br /> Regulations 1996-1997 as presented. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Caffyn. <br /> VQTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
