I ASH EE TOWN HALL BUILDING COMMITTEE Minutes for July 19, 1995 Page Bob whritenour stated that he felt that any of the top three firms could do a good job. Charlie stated that he felt that we were more happy with Strel alov ky and Hoit's design versus the new design of Donharn and Sweeney. Greg referred to one of the projects that Strekalov ky and Hoit had completed in Boston. He stated that he thought they had done a good job making an old building look new and that he liked what they did with the ground level space. Bob Fox stated that he felt any one of the three firms could do what was needed for this project. Greg stated that from what he had heard and seen so far, Strkalovsky and Hoit had done a very good job with a limited budget and rade it work. He also stated that he felt if it was a strongly historical building, that The Preservation Partnership would be the way to go. Bob vhritenour asked the members if anyone had changed their rank order. Bob Fox stated that he was very concerned with the heating system issue, especially where this was a problem with one of Donham and Sweeney's references, and that he had liked the person that Strekalovsky and Hoit had brought with therm. Charlie stated that based on what he had heard from the reports on the' references, that he would g with Strekalovsky rid Hoit. He also stated that he did not lire to hear when there has been a problem with the firm's subcontractors and stated that it indicated to him that the firm did not choose. their subcontractors very wisely. Charlie stated that he had changed his rank order to- 1. o:1. Strkalovky and Holt 2. C onham and Sweeney 3. The Preservation Partnership Greg stated that he felt that Donham and Sweeney were not as comfortable with the budget. A brief discussion was held and it was determined that the Committee members agreed that moving individuals out of the construction area was a good idea. Flay Martini motioned for the Committee to send to the Selectmen their rank order selection of design architects for the Town Hail renovation Project as follows: 1. S rekalov ky and Hoit 2. Donharn and Sweeney 3. The Preservation Partnership Charlie Buckingham seconded the motion. This emotion was carried by a unanimous vote with a concurrence of the Esc-off cios. Greg presented a memorandum regarding the need for the Town Hall Building Committee to open discussions with the I la hpee Water District in order to provide torn grater and a fire suppression system to the renovated Town Hall. He stated he would be willing to act as the Committee's liaison to the Ma hpee Water District. He stated that if they were serious about getting town water, then they would need to move
