Meeting of
Mashpee Design Review Committee
Tuesday, March 20, 2018
Mashpee Town Hall Waquoit Meeting Room
Committee Members Present: Jonathan Furbush, Michael Mendoza, and Miles
Peters.
Absent: Joseph Cummings, and Joshua Spencer.
Also Present: Evan Lehrer–Town Planner
Michael Mendoza opened the discussion at 8:40 a.m. and stated there would be
discussion only since a quorum is not present.
Project Address: 500 Old Barnstable Road
Business Name: Mashpee Middle/High School
Owner/Agent: Patricia DeBoer/Mike Looney
Request: Replace existing Mashpee High School Sign
With a new LED sign in the same location.
Patricia DeBoer, Mark Balestracci, and Mike Looney were present as
representatives of the Mashpee Middle/High School; and Mark Hurley and Bob
Messier were presenting a model of the proposed sign.
Patty DeBoer, School Superintendent, said they are seeking approval of a
replacement sign that is currently along Rt. 151. Patty said the current sign is about
the schools, but the proposed sign allows them to tie into Police, Fire, and Town
Hall so they can communicate those messages about Town events. If approved,
the current sign would be moved inside the horseshoe area at the High School
and would be more for the student body use.
Mike Mendoza asked how the other "tie-in" messages would be cycling through.
Patty responded that something could run for a week and something else run
only once. She said one person will be the single authority of what is displayed.
She said the Police Chief; Fire Chief; and Town has a say in what they want
displayed.
Mark Hurley explained that all program is from the Webpage—it is cloud based.
Mark Hurley said as long as you have access to the school you can do from
anywhere as long as they use access and password. Someone from the school
would control message or changes.
Jonathan Furbush asked whether it was possible for a message to stay 30-40
seconds and the message switches. Mark Hurley said "yes" you can do
