Own �a f Mashpeey ¢ y ®{,/ g y } . 7. &g <br /> " 16 Great Neck Road North <br /> Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649 <br /> 51All1.E GU" <br /> Telephone - (508) 539-1438 <br /> MASHPEE HISTORICAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Meeting—May 8, 2019 <br /> The Mashpee Historical Commission meeting was called to order by Ava Costello, Chair, at <br /> 4:09 pm. <br /> Commissioners Present: Ava Costello, Richard DeSorgher, Nancy Soderberg Joan Tavares- <br /> Avant and Brian Hyde. <br /> Commissioner not Present: Rosemary Burns Love and Brian Weeden <br /> Richard DeSorgher reported on the opening of the One-Room Schoolhouse <br /> Third grade students will be visiting six times during the month of May with Richard acting as the <br /> new School Master. One-half of the students will be at the One-Room Schoolhouse for 45 <br /> minutes while the other half of the group will visit the Indian Museum and then the two groups <br /> will switch. <br /> Frank Lord will return to the One-Room Schoolhouse on Memorial Day and have it open after <br /> the Town's Memorial Day services. <br /> Richard reported on the War Memorial which received full funding at the past week's Town <br /> Meeting. <br /> A rough draft of all the Veteran names has been finalized and Richard wants the list to be <br /> posted in as many public places as possible for people to view the list in case of errors or <br /> missing names. <br /> Richard will meet with Assistant Town Manager Wayne Taylor to have the names posted on the <br /> Town 's web-site with a link to the Historical Commission site. <br /> Other suggestions such as a story in the local papers, posting in the library web-site, etc., were <br /> discussed. <br /> Ava reported on the success of the May Speaker's Program with Steve Kramer speaking about <br /> his father's time in WWII; being shot down over Germany and being captured in a POW prison. <br /> She reported a great attendance of 65 residents with lots of questions and comments from <br /> others who also had family stories about WWII. Ava also thanked the library staff for all their <br /> help in setting up and supplying refreshments. Thanks to Steve Kramer for his time in <br /> presenting the program. <br />
