Tolvn of
All511pee
P. O. BOX 1108
MASHPEE. MA 02649
DICV1RD MINUTES : 1/15A5 P . 3
of the housing for the elderly be someplace that 's not isolated . This
concern is that some of the sites that are proposed are pristene and
beautiful but somewhat isolated from the main stream of population,
Their concern is that they be located . . .
ra 0ulibin. 13ut you 're making a proposal here that this will all be nice
but you have 24 units on 5 acres is not going to be nice , 3 units per
acre is infinitely greater than what the zoning is throughout the town.
:'sir . !'Jurphy . I understand that but I also think you're looking at the
overall size of the units that you're accustomed to in comparison to the
size of unit for the elderly. They're often not more than 500 sq . ft . ,
I bedroom, The town has received a grant for 30 units of publicly
assisted housing . 24 units of elderly, 6 units of family . It was
originally felt that all units would have to be in the same location.
Through discussions with the state and particularly in regards to this
site it was felt and the state concurred that the elderly units could
remain separate from the family units . So at this time the housing
Authority has been working with the Town Planner to develop sites for,
the family units .
Mr. Fudala : I would just like to point out there 's a large hole on the
site that needs to be filled in,
Dubin- How large is common area?
Mr. Murphy: Approximately 2 acres as is the proposed library. I think,
when you look at the housing for the elderly you 're thinking that the
entire site is going to have a footprint of houses . I don't think
you 're going to find that to be the case .
Mr . Harsters : Do vou know how many buildings there will be Joe`?
Or . Murphy: Probably D buildings . At this time it 's undecided . An
architect hasn't even been selected , As part of the agreement the Board
of Selectmen have reached with the Fields Point Corporation the Selectmen
agreed to the limit that they can to Fields Point Corporation to have
some degree of voice with regards to the exterior appearance and land-
scape of the elderly housing complex . The state agreed that they eer-
tainly would like to see the developer in the area play a role in that ,
i-c . Dubin. Tf you have 24 units you'll have to have plenty of parking
and paving . it strikes me as still a very peculiar equation.
F-lurr)lhy , Ve also have the potential for parking here . There may be
