Must be capable Of reporting to work punctually and <br /> dependable in attendance. <br /> Abilities.- Ability to enforce laws and regulations firmly and impartially with sound judgment; <br /> a b i lity to enforce d epa rtm e nta I ru les,a nd regu I atio ies <br /> ns an d po I lc, a nd p roced u res-abi lity to wo rk <br /> with various Town, regional, county, state and federal officials; ability to communicate with the <br /> publicr r <br /> ;ability to operate boats,pumps,winches,shellfish aquaculture and harvesting equipment;■ <br /> ability to read and follow waterway markers and charts ability to effectively and tactfully <br /> communicate with others regarding compliance with laws and regulations- ability to execute <br /> enforcement action and to investigate complaints; ility <br /> ab <br /> ,. to maintain clear and detailed activity <br /> reports and inspection records; ability to operate, dock, and control boats and waterway vessels <br /> safely and properly, sometimes even in severe weather conditions* ability to use boating <br /> equipment. <br /> r r <br /> Ehysica�lRe�Lf�irem�en�ts: May occasionally be required to lift, move, and/or push objects which <br /> weigh sixty (60) pounds or more as well as climb, stoop, run,walk, crawl, and kneel for extended <br /> periods of ishing <br /> time must have the ability to traverse uneven terrain and shellf., areas- must be <br /> able to hear normal sounds, distinguish sound as voice patterns and communicate through <br /> human speech using understandable American English. Uses hands to finger, handle or feel <br /> objects, tools or controls., reaches with hands and arms, specificv' ision abilities required include <br /> close and medium distance vision and the ability to adjust focus; ability to operate a keyboard <br /> i It <br /> accurately and efficiently. Required to sit,talk, and hear for extended periods- possess moderate <br /> physical strength requiring occasional moderate to strenuous physical effort to perform some <br /> duties. Must have the ability to operate a boat in various weather conditions and dock properly. <br /> Must be able to use oars in boats. Must have the ability to judge distances and use navigational <br /> equipment in coordinating locations. Effort is required to include the ability to swim and assist in <br /> rescue operations. Must have the intellectual and mental acuity to perform conceptual and <br /> detailed technical work. <br /> SpeciaLlReLgirements: Must be able to demonstrate,through references or otherwise,the ability <br /> to assign priorities to varied work demands, independently and effectively accomplish detailed <br /> work requirements, and provide high levels of courteous service. Must possess and maintain a <br /> valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts driver's license (Class D) to operate a motor vehicle. <br /> Must be a minimum of age twenty-one" possess the ability to attain and retain CPR and First Aid <br /> certifications ability to qualify for a firearms license and have no felony convictions. Must <br /> successfully be able to complete a comprehensive background investigation ana criminal record <br /> check. Must be able to successfully pass a one year probationary period. Must be' able to provide <br /> proof of eligibility to work in the United States. <br /> Preferred Reg u i rem ents" Experience in the installation, maintenance and removal of navigational <br /> aides and/or moorings is preferred. In order to satisfy requirements pursuant to Massachusetts <br /> General Law Chapter 102, Section 19A and 501 CMR 16.-00, specialized training in seamanship <br /> and navigation is also preferred, or certifications such as a "'Captain's license", or advanced <br /> knowledge, skills, and abilities in the operation and control of boats', and subjects related to safe <br />
