ELLIOT LEWIS
Inspector of Wires
Report of the Shellfish Warden
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:
I hereby submit my report as Shellfish Warden for the
year ending December 31, 1960.
We had a fairly good season with scallops but because
of the hurricane of 1960 which destroyed a great deal of the
set, the crop will likely be poor this coming year. Quahogs
are getting scarce in some areas due to lack of propagation.
The clams are quite plentiful in some areas and the oysters
are still very scarce.
SHELLFISH LICENSES ISSUED
Non-resident 58 @ $2.00 $116.00
Resident 206 @ 1.00 206.00
Commercial 15 @ 10.00 150.00
Total Permits 279 $472.00
Respectfully submitted,
EDWARD S. TAVARES,
Shellfish Warden
