Often, the transition from an elementary school to a
large high school is frequently a difficult one to many chil-
dren. In order to help the pupils make the adjustment
easier, a definite plan of orientation has been worked out
Early each Spring, the eighth grade is transported to Fal-
mouth High School to become acquainted with the various
courses of study offered, and to learn about the different
procedures in practice there. With the cooperation of the
principal, Mr. Russell Marshall, and the guidance counselors,
talks and tests are given to further determine the type of
course each pupil might pursue the following year. This
experience proves to be educational and appealing.
I am especially grateful to Mr. Coombs, the faculty and
our custodial staff; to Miss Mary Susich, R.N., Barnstable
County Nurse, Dr. Fred Moore, County Health Agent, and
Mrs. Carol McClane, R.N., Town Nurse, for their help and
guidance in forming the Mashpee Health Council; to Mr.
Earl Mills, Director of Athletics for the Town of Falmouth,
for his inspiring graduation address; to the Singer Sewing
Machine Company of Hyannis, for the donation of two sew-
ing machines for the use of our domestic science class; and
to the Mashpee P.T.A. for their informative and educational
meetings during the year, where subjects discussed were
guidance in high school, reading, arithmetic and science, as
taught in our school system.
In closing, I wish to thank the Mashpee School Commit-
tee, as well as the parents, for their understanding and sup-
port of our school program.
Respectfully submitted,
WILFRED H.
