37
Forest Warden
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
Mashpee, Massachusetts
Gentlemen:
I hereby submit my report for the year ending December
31, 1962.
There were seventeen brush fires during the year. The
most serious fire started in the South Mashpee area with a
loss of about 5 acres; all others were small with less than
one-quarter acre loss. All brush fire equipment is in good
shape.
The last five years we have been fortunate not to have
any major fires but the conditions in the woodlands are very
dangerous at times and caution should be used with all per-
mit fires. The public has cooperated in every way in the
past and I hope the future will be the same. We are very
short handed during the Spring and Summer months as a
good many firemen work out of town, so if we work at fire
prevention, there will be less expense and damage.
Respectfully submitted,
ELLSWORTH PETERS,
Fire Chief
