70 <br />Section 6. Amendments. These by-laws may be amend- <br />ed from time to time by a two-thirds vote At any Town Meet- <br />ing. <br />CONSTRUCTION <br />REGULATIONS <br />Section 1. Notification of intent to Build, etc. <br />Para. 1. A permit shall, be required .for all buildings to <br />be erected, altered, reconstructed or moved to a new founda- <br />tion within the limits of the Town of Mashpee, excepting <br />small unattached accessory buildings not to be used for the <br />purpose of habitation and having a floor space of less than <br />100 square feet. <br />Para. 2. This code shall not apply -to: 1. Buildings for which <br />a Commonwealth of Massachusetts permit is required. 2. <br />Buildings or structures owned by the United States or the <br />Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 3. Bridges, quays, wharves. <br />4. Farm buildings or structures not in either case used as <br />dwellings and located more than 100 feet from any dwelling, <br />if approved by the Building Inspector.. 5. Ordinary repairs <br />to buildings, providing such repairs do not include the re- <br />moval of walls which tend to weaken the building. <br />Section 2. -Applications. 'Applications for building per- <br />mits shall be accompanied by a plan of the lot showing the <br />dimensions of the lot and the location and size of the building <br />or buildings to be erected, together with location of cesspool <br />or septic tank and water supplies. A record of such applica- <br />tions and plans shall be kept on file 'in the office of the <br />Building Inspector. <br />Section 3. General Provisions Applicable to all Buildings. <br />Para. 1. All wooden construction in buildings hereafter <br />erected shall be built with sills, posts, studs and plates <br />properly bracedand framed so as to develop the maximum <br />strength and rigidity consistent with the purpose for which <br />they are to be used. <br />Para. 2. , All materials used shall beof sufficient strength <br />and size to safely carry the loads they may be subjected to <br />without exceeding the allowable working strength. 1. All <br />lumber. and timber used in load bearing members shall be <br />sound, free from rot and large or loose knots, and damaged <br />diagonal or spiral grain;, and shall be at least equal in quality <br />to the following commercial 'grades: studs posts, planks, <br />beams, joists and rafters, No.` 2 'Common; .and girders and <br />timbers No. 1 Common. All lumber sizes herein` specified are <br />nominal sizes: <br />
