95
Report of the Superintendent of Schools
.To the School Comittee and the
Citizens of the Town of Mashpee:
Herewith is submitted the annual report of the Superin-
tendent of Schools of the Town of Mashpee.
Teachers
The Town of Mashpee is very fortunate in having a dedi-
cated corps of teachers and an understanding principal who
give of themselves far beyond the call of duty to help develop
Mashpee children in light of present day educational stan-
dards. Through in-service and graduate programs, the edu-
cational staff continually study the development of new edu-
cational programs and initiate the worthwhile techniques
within the framework of the school curriculum. I am proud
of the teachers in the Samuel G. Davis School who work with
your children each school day to ready them for the tomor-
row of tomorrows. The following quotation of Eugene P. Bertin
is applicable to our teachers.
"The teacher is a builder who works with
the higher and finer values of civilization; a
pioneer who is always attempting the impossible
and winning out; and a believer who has abiding
faith in the improvability of the race. He is a
humble instrument in the furtherance of man-
kind".
•Junior and Senior High Pupils
The Mashpee seventh and eighth grade pupils are re-
ceiving .a well-rounded education at the Barnstable Junior
High School — the kind of education which we could not give
them in a single classroom in the Samuel G. Davis School.
We are very grateful to the Barnstable School Committee,
Superintendent Harvard H. Broadbent, Principal .John C.
Linehan and the personnel of the Barnstable Junior High
.School for all the fine things they have done for our young
People.
