110 <br />Report of the Superintendent of Schools <br />To the School Committee and the <br />Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: <br />I consider it a privilege and .honor to submit my annual <br />report to the Citizens of Mashpee. <br />Enrollment <br />One hundred and twenty pupls were enrolled in the <br />Samuel G. Davis School — grades 1 - 6, 37 in the Barnstable <br />Junior High School — grades seven and eight, 39 in the Fal- <br />mouth High School — grades 9 - 12, and 2 in the Barnstable <br />Vocational High School at the close of the school year in 1966 <br />— a total of 198 pupils. School doors opened in September, <br />1966 to 145 pupils in the Samuel G. Davis School — grades <br />K - 6, 36 in the Otis Air Force Base Junior High School — <br />grades 7 and 8, 55 in the Falmouth High School — grades <br />9 - 12 and 3 in the Barnstable Vocational High School — a <br />total of 239 pupils. A healthy growth in school population is <br />noted and facilities are adequate at the present time to take <br />care of same. <br />Junior High School Program: <br />Crowded conditions in the Barnstable Junior High School <br />made it necessary for the Superintendent of Schools in <br />Mashpee to withdraw the Mashpee pupils and find a new <br />"Educational Home" for them as of September, 1966. At the <br />request of the Superintendent of Schools, the Bourne School <br />Committee with the approval of Colonel Robert F. Kalten- <br />bacher, Base Commander, Otis Air Force Base accepted the <br />Mashpee pupils beginning, September, 1966. <br />On behalf of the Citizens of Mashpee, Town Officials, <br />School Committee and Administration, I extend appreciation <br />to the Bourne School Committee, Colonel Robert F. Kalten- <br />bacher, Principal Frederick H. Comings and teachers for pre- <br />paring the young people of Mashpee to face the challenges <br />
